5 Fun Ways to Use a 5-Gallon Bucket

Art 4 pic L compressor

Did you know there are all kinds of things you can do with a 5-Gallon Bucket? Sure, we’ve all used them on a project site… and of course you can wash your car or store food with them. But check out these other really fun options that’ll keep you from being bored on a Sunday afternoon:

CREATE A BACKPACK

Just attach some straps, and voila, you’ve got yourself a go-bag. There’s tons of room for any kind of project you might be working on around the house or yard.

COOK ON IT

Using a tin can and some venting pipe, you can create a handy rocket stove with a bucket. Rocket stoves are super efficient, so you don’t need to burn much wood to cook. You can find more detailed instructions here.

BALANCE YOUR BIKE

Take a hacksaw and cut out a vertical slot in the bottom of the bucket, then keep it upside down to create a great stand for your two-wheeler.

LIGHT IT UP

Throw in an extra bright flashlight, and hang it from the bucket handles and you’ve got hella sexy mood light for a basement party. Fair warning: your girl might not agree! But either way, it’s a great way for some ambient lighting to show you the way.

MAKE A TOILET

A’ight, some of us might not think this is “fun”, especially if we’re in an emergency situation. However, if you’re in survival practice mode, maybe even out camping, this is clutch. And here’s an extra little tip for you: pour some kitty litter in the bottom. It’s easy to scoop out and clean!

If you’re like most craftsmen I know, you’ve already got a 5-Gallon Bucket hanging around your garage somewhere.
