The Best Construction Staplers

Any good craftsman has a variety of staplers in their tool box. The main three categories of staplers – manual, electric, and pneumatic – are divided by power source, which gives them different advantages based on the project or application. Here’s some of the best staplers you can use right now:

Manual

Manual staplers require arm and hand power, and you can take them anywhere because they don’t have a cord attached. But this means that your hands might get tired after using at length. That’s why manual staplers are generally used for lighter shorter carpentry or woodworking projects, and they aren’t as good for large scale construction jobs. Here’s a couple of the best you can buy right now:

Stanley TR45 Light Duty Staple Gun Kit: This stapler is one of the best values on the market and has great online reviews. It’s also fairly light at 1.7 lbs, and recommended for insulation installment.

Bostitch T6-8 Heavy Duty Powercrown Tacker: At only 1.4 lbs, this one is a little spendier but is the highest rated. It’s got a rubber covered hand grip for maximum efficiency.

Electric

Electric staple guns are pricier than manual, but are easier on the hands and arm because they require a minimal amount of push to shoot the staple. They do require a cord and power outlet, unless they have a battery powered option, which is very popular because it means they’re mobile. Electric guns are ideal for heavier duty carpentry projects.  Here some of the best you can buy right now:

Duo-Fast 1016055 Carpet Pro 20-Gauge Electric Stapler: This stapler is moderately priced and has one of the best ratings online. It weighs in at 7 lbs and has an electric cord.

Makita XTS01Z 18V LXT 3.0 Ah Cordless Lithium-Ion 3/8 in. Crown Stapler: At 5 lbs, this one costs a bit more but is the highest rated. It’s battery operated.

Pneumatic

These staplers are powered by air, and like the electric counterparts they require less strength to operate. They often require an additional power source, but they tend to be lighter than most electric guns. Pneumatic staples are ideal for many construction projects. Here some of the best you can buy right now:

Porter-Cable NS150C 18GA Narrow Crown Stapler This stapler is rated highest of the pneumatic and is fairly inexpensive. It weighs in at almost 5 lbs.

Freeman PFWS 20 Gauge Professional Fine Wire Stapler: This is one of the lightest at only 3 pounds, and also has excellent reviews.
